3 ways to reduce your chances of getting hurt in a car crash

Driving wherever you want in your car – even across the country at the drop of a hat – is enormously convenient. But with this convenience comes the danger of getting hurt or killed in a catastrophic vehicle collision. For this reason, you need to make an effort to stay as safe as possible.

Here are three things that could prevent you from getting hurt in a collision:

Act like a race car driver: Obviously, you shouldn’t drive fast or aggressively like a race car driver, but you should scoot your seat closer to the steering wheel and keep your hands at 10:00 and 2:00 on the steering wheel. This will ensure that you have the best control of your automobile.

Avoid other drivers’ blind spots: Whether it’s a semitruck or conventional-sized automobile, it probably has a blind spot – where the driver can’t see – often to the right-rear and other areas around the vehicle. Take care not to linger in these areas or the driver could end up merging into you.

Follow the rules of the road: Learn the traffic laws and obey them. Speeding, drinking and driving, smartphone use and other laws exist for a reason: To prevent accidents and keep you safe. In fact, if everyone simply followed the traffic rules and never considered breaking them, we would live in, virtually, a car-accident-free world. At the very least, catastrophic and fatal accidents would be rare.

If you’re already doing the above, but you still get hurt in an automobile collision, you might want to invest some time in learning about your legal rights and options. Our personal injury firm can evaluate the facts of your case to determine whether you can pursue financial damages in court.
